(FYI, it looks like 2 of the 4 capacitors on this card have discharged, which I'm assuming is why it began to fail. But of course, it's a much less capable card, unable to support World of Warcraft, the main game I play on this PC. The older PCI card is working fine and everything is "back to normal". To test that it was the card, and not the monitor, or malware, etc, I removed my old Diamond Viper V770 Ultra PCI card from my 9-year old Micron and restarted the PC with that card in, and the AGP card removed, after having changed the BIOS video setting from "AGP" to "Auto" (with guidance from my friend, otherwise I would not have known to do that). And within World of Warcraft, a lot of textures would randomly garble. I’d rather avoid the hassle and keep my blood pressure in check.Christmas night I started noticing my video going funky - garbled window edges, failure to repaint screen on moving, long delays in response, and monitor seeming to switch modes (click on and off momentarily) at times it shouldn't need to - and frequently. Not that I don’t need the money, but from what I have read, some people complain about getting it in a timely manor. Also, I did not bother to apply for my mail-in rebate. Overall Review: I do not play video games so I can’t attest to its suitability for gaming. Lucikly, I did not have to search for one. The graphics are rock-solid and stable on my 17" Envision CRT.Ĭons: The CD was of no use to me because it does not contain any Linux drivers. The card offers a wide range of resolutions. Both text and graphics are rendered superbly.Ĭhaintech made this card very well and mine is exactly as depicted and described on Newegg. It worked well with each version without a glitch. Since that installation, I have upgraded to Ubuntu version 7.10 and then again to version 8.04. Ubuntu installed the correct driver for me without my having to search for it. My PC runs a Linux distribution (Ubuntu 6.04). This card looks very good and was very easy to install. Pros: I use it in an old HP Vectra VL commercial computer.
